Although E-Commerce is an efficient and cheap way of shopping, it is continuing to put retail stores at risk of closing down due to less sales.

There are some solutions to the issue that enable shopping online and shopping in stores to co-exist:

 

Charging a higher amount of GST on products bought online

This will force the producers for online products to charge a higher price and this will then turn people off from buying products online because the prices would be slightly more expensive.

 

Charging higher postage and shipping fees

With higher fees, people would rather buy products from stores where they dont have to pay shipping/postage fees.

 

Making products online the same price as products in store

This would make things fair amongst online and store product prices. If the prices of the actual product are the same (excluding shipping and GST) then stores and online stores would have an equal chance of getting sales.
